Stabilization of Arsenic Laden Copper-Smelter Sludges – Sterlite Industries India Ltd.
Date: January 2011-June 2011
Developed a methodology to stabilize arsenic in sludge from copper-smelter wastewater to prevent runoff and groundwater contamination. The solution involved a combination of technologies for bulk removal, trace removal and stabilization of arsenic from the 5000ppm aqueous streams.

Rossky Group – University of Texas at Austin, USA
Date: September 2005 – December 2009
Molecular simulation study of solvation phenomena to guide design of surfactants. Investigated the reasons that fluoroalkanes are hydrophobic but CO2-philic and developed guidelines to aid the search for non-fluorous surfactants for use in supercritical carbon dioxide. Developed new insights on hydrophobicity of fluorocarbons.

Gas Treating Group – Shell Global Solutions, Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Date: March 2004 – July 2005
Did a conceptual study of method to capture carbon dioxide from flue gases of power plants as part of the Dutch Carbon Capture, Transport and Storage (CATO) project. Analysis of amine absorption process was greatly facilitated by treating it as a conceptual heat engine.
